1. The Critical Role of Rotor Assembly in CV Series VSI Crushers


The rotor assembly is the core component of CV Series VSI crushers, converting motor power into high-speed impact energy. Unlike compression crushers, VSI crushers use centrifugal force to accelerate material through the rotor, enabling efficient rock-on-rock or rock-on-iron crushing. Therefore, rotor quality directly affects crushing performance, product shape, equipment stability, and maintenance cost.

For high-chrome wear components, chemical composition and hardness control are key factors affecting service life. Alloy elements such as molybdenum (Mo) and nickel (Ni) are commonly applied to optimize material performance and improve the balance between wear resistance and toughness. Through proper heat treatment, wear components can typically achieve stable hardness levels around 58–60 HRC, depending on application requirements.

(1) Rotor Tips

Rotor tips are the primary impact components in the rotor assembly.

A composite structure is commonly adopted, using a high-strength steel base such as 40Cr combined with tungsten carbide inserts in high-impact areas.

(2) Top and Bottom Wear Plates

Wear plates protect the rotor body from direct material impact.

Standard materials such as Q345B are commonly used, while upgraded wear-resistant materials such as NM450 (similar performance level to Hardox 450) can be selected for more demanding applications.
